Woodfield Waves Swim Team

One of the goals for our Woodfield community is to provide our members social and physical activities, community interaction, and the development of sportsmanship, team spirit and sense of community. Our award-winning swim team, the Woodfield Waves Swim Team provides affordable swimming lessons available for all experience levels in private or group settings.

We are a part of the Atlanta Swim Association (ASA). Kids ages 3-18 are welcome, no prior swimming experience necessary. The season begins in mid-May and includes 5 meets through the month of June. Practices taught by licensed swim coaches are in the mornings during the summer and meets are the best (and loudest) way you could spend a summer Thursday evening. Our coaches are made up of neighborhood swimmers who have gone through the swim team themselves, and are now certified instructors. Coaches do their best to make practices a fun time while also challenging, and meets are a four-hour party with swimming, music, food trucks and more.

2021 Swim Season Information

COVID guidelines: Swim practices and meets will be conducted according to state guidelines for gathering and safety. Coaches will be masked, swimmers will be kept from congregating, temperature checks will take place upon entering the pool area, and hand sanitizer will be everywhere. Meet formats are yet to be determined, but the Atlanta Swim Association is determined to handle the season responsibly.

Dates: Practices begin in mid-May and run from 8am to late morning (exact times will depend on number of swimmers we can safely accommodate). Meets will be primarily on Thursdays starting in late May; there will be five meets. If we do virtual meets, all five will be at the Woodfield pool; if we're able to do in-person meets, only 2 or 3 will be at the pool. Meets start about 4:30 and last until about 9, and the pool deck will be cleaned completely after every meet (and practice).

Cost: For Woodfield residents, cost is $140 for first swimmer, $125 for second, and $100 for each successive swimmer, plus a $34.50 fee per swimmer that goes to the ASA. The cost covers five days of instruction plus one meet every week, along with donuts, ribbons, t-shirts and other assorted goodies throughout the year.
